Originally from a mining village in Yorkshire, I was brought up in a council house with my younger brother and sister. I went to a state grammar school, then to Oxford University, where I read chemistry, and I had a successful business career in very large companies, including Unilever, Tesco, Safeway and Shell. I am recently retired, fit and energetic, with an active brain.

I have been an Ashford Borough Councillor, representing Mersham, Sevington South with Finberry since 1999. I have been a Kent County Councillor, representing Ashford Central since 2017. I am therefore very experienced in being a strong voice on the Council representing residents and would like to serve for a further 4 years representing Mersham, Sevington South with Finberry on the Council.

I’ve been privileged to represent Pluckley, Little Chart and Charing Heath on Ashford Borough Council since 2007. Boundary changes brought Hothfield into the new ward of Upper Weald in 2019 and I am delighted to be standing again as your candidate on May 4th.
