Representing Kennington for the last five years has been an amazing privilege and an incredible duty that I have loved and greatly appreciated undertaking. Since being first elected in October 2018 and then re-elected in May 2019, you have placed your trust in me twice, and now I ask for your continued support for a third time.
Throughout my time as your Councillor, I have been listening to you – the residents of Kennington. We have met on the doorstep, at public meetings and at my Councillor’s surgeries. I listen to and often share in your passions and concerns. Many of you have contacted me directly about issues and I have helped you resolve them. That is what I believe a councillor should do – working with openness and transparency.
My work has included but isn’t limited to; improving our greenspaces in Kennington, joining and working with Kennington Community Council, my work as a Trustee of the Kennington Parochial Charity, my work with the Kennington Summer Fayre Committee, lobbying KCC to bring about the re-surfacing of Ulley Road and The Street, reporting of potholes and fly-tipping, working alongside Neighbourhood Watch and local PCSOs to tackle crime, supporting Speedwatch to reduce speeding in Kennington, supporting local organisations through the Ward Member Grant Scheme and assisting many residents with individual issues or concerns.
Among the many projects and achievements of the last few years – the new play area at The Ridge (Spearpoint Recreation Ground) must be a personal highlight for me. From first being elected and speaking to residents about the inadequate playground that was at The Ridge, I have campaigned for a new play area. Opening the new playground with the Mayor of Ashford earlier this year and watching the joy it brought the many families who had joined us was amazing and has created a brilliant space for residents and their children.
If re-elected on May 4th, I will continue to work tirelessly on the issues that matter to you and ensure that the views of every Kennington resident continue to be heard. I can only do this with your support so please vote for me on May 4th so that I can continue to give Kennington a strong and local voice!
