This evening we held our Special General Meeting to establish the new Ashford Conservative Association and welcome our new members joining us from Ashford, Hawkinge and The Downs.
The Ashford Constituency was established around 1885 and the boundary has remained unchanged since 1974. We are proud that since 1885 the constituency has returned a Conservative Member of Parliament at every general election, except for in 1929 when a Liberal MP was elected with a small majority.
The new Ashford constituency will include parts of the current Folkestone constituency. Do rest assured that until the next election and these changes take place, Damian Green MP will continue to work hard for every part of the constituency.
