Last week we held our last Annual General Meeting as the current Ashford Conservative Association. The Ashford Constituency was established around 1885 and the boundary has remained unchanged since 1974. We are proud that since 1885 the constituency has returned a Conservative Member of Parliament at every general election, except for in 1929 when a Liberal MP was elected with a small majority.
The new Ashford Conservative Association will be formally established next month. At the next General Election some of the existing constituency will form the new Weald of Kent constituency and the new Ashford constituency will include parts of the current Folkestone constituency. Do rest assured that until the next election and these changes take place, Damian Green will continue to work hard for every part of the constituency.
At last weeks meeting ACCA President Charlie Simkins, Chairman Dirk Ross, and Damian thanked members for everything they have contributed to the Association over the years.
At Ashford Conservatives we are sad to say goodbye to members who are moving into the Weald of Kent Constituency, yet excited to welcome our new members joining with us from Folkestone to create the new Ashford Association.
